Paul Sawyer and Paul Moore, the two faces behind Soultrak, are no strangers to the world of electronic music. After separately pursuing DJ careers over the last 15 years on the circuit but never being billed together, the duo finally met behind the decks at cult underground party Terminal at The Winchester, Bournemouth in 2013. Discovering they shared the same musical wavelength that night, the guys embarked on a new venture together as Soultrak. Paul Sawyer’s experience as a resident for Eden in Ibiza from 93’ onwards and later across large festivals brought the Tech House influence, while Paul Moore’s solid background within the UK free party scene gave their sets a deep tougher edge.
As producers their sound is the purest of house; a true representative of their individual heritages, classic yet forward-thinking and capturing the attention of some of the industry’s heavyweights including Tensnake, Sam Divine, D Ramirez and Mark Knight. Soultrak’s debut release The Girl hit the ground running with Brandon Block’s Bloxbox Records and set the precedent for their career to date. Soultrak’s infectious summer 2015 collaboration with The Cloudshapers Salute the Floor ft Beluah was the 200th release on Unrivaled Music that received several nods from Music Week’s Cool Cuts, Upfront Club Breakers and Upfront Club Charts, while Paul Sawyer’s remix hit #7 in the Beatport Minimal Chart.
Mark Knight also announced the Steve Mac remix as his killer cut on Toolroom Radio as well as playing it three weeks in a row, while the Original gained plays on the airwaves of giants Kiss FM and Capital Xtra. ‘Salute the Floor’ and their follow up ‘Hustle’ have also been licensed by Toolroom for their Ibiza 2016 compilation.
H.U.S.T.L.E, also featuring Beluah, created a similar buzz among the trend forecasters with two consecutive weeks in the Top 5 of the Upfront Club Breakers Chart. The single also procured multiple positive reviews from the industry’s press across the board, including a repost from Soundcloud tastemakers EDM.com to DMC World and ihouseu.com. The duo also remixed BangMe’s Fire At Night for EJ Underground, their 2nd bestselling track on Beatport, in addition to each other’s solo tracks, the latest being Paul Sawyer’s Reason to Rise.
2015 saw Soultrak support James Zabiela with their first appearance at Ministry of Sound at a party hosted by the growing Krafted Music Group and online authority Decoded Magazine. The guys also spun at new West London club The Vault warming up for Brandon Block and continue to enjoy regular slots at Terminal. The duo were asked back to the Ministry of Sound for another slot in March 2016 for the huge Circus Recordings.
Their biggest remix request to date came in the form of remixing one of the UK’s biggest Indie bands Foals. Their ‘Birch Tree’ remix takes the track into a club friendly route and has caused a huge stir already, rated 10/10 by D Ramirez, and supported by some heavy weight a-list dj’s.
Soultrak now host their own Friday night monthly show on Krafted’s new radio station, alongside guest spots for Proton Radio, locoLDN and more. From March 2016 Soultrak host their monthly event in Bournemouth and welcome various guests from around the world.
With bookings in the USA in May 2016, as well as various festivals and clubs UK wide, these guys have a busy year ahead.
