Pop-writing sensation in waiting Sody is soon to be the name on everybody’s lips. At just 15 years old, Sody (real name Sophie Dyson) recently unleashed her debut EP ‘Youth’ to much acclaim online. One blog, Press Play OK named her one of their “favourite new artists this year”, while another, We Plug Good Music claimed the youngster is “poised to be this generation’s new voice of pop”.
The EP’s lead track ‘Sorry’ garnered initial attention in April earlier this year when it first aired on BBC Radio London’s ‘Introducing’ show. Tastemaker blog When the Gramophone Rings called it “a beaut of a debut single.. an amazing entrance”, and it wasn’t long before it was featured on Apple Music’s Best of the Week playlist and Popjustice’s New Music Friday on Spotify.
On the second EP track, Sody teamed up with fellow rising star Martin Luke Brown for powerful collaboration ‘Wasted Youth’. Accompanied by a “stunningly sensitive” video that premiered on The 405, bloggers continued to rave about Sody’s sophisticated writing style and masterful vocals.
Celebrated with a packed-out launch show at The Forge in Camden, Sody’s debut EP is a remarkable achievement, yet it’s still only the beginning for this London-based singer-songwriter. During school holidays, Sody has been across the pond working with some exciting names in Los Angeles as well as collaborating with some more homegrown talent, such as Prides. Catch her now before she blows up, as Wonderland Magazine says – she has “a long and bright future ahead”.
